AI vs philosophers of the 21st century

Software development used to be fun when we had the chance to think, make mistakes, and learn from them...

Now, it's just "AI AI AI" and it feels like we are back to those "Wordpress developers" jokes or the generation of "drag-and-drop experts" that Adobe/salesforce/Microsoft created for us in the past 25 years...

I used to say "programmers are the philosophers of the 21st century" because we don't "just code"

Understanding the needs and building a solution is like writing a poem; writing code is like "speaking a language"

That's why, for example, Linux was built to solve specific types of problems in a way that most people used to call "stupid and difficult" but turned out to become the backbone of the internet

Everyone can "learn to speak a language"
AI can "write code"

Yes,
But the philosophy behind things?

That's why we need more people who have the balls to criticize things in strategic positions, but unfortunately, those are filled with managers who have no idea... Mostly, a bunch of apple polishers who tend to only satisfy their higher-level managers.

We need open-minded people in these fields who are brave enough to challenge things so that the philosophies behind things can mature, instead of those who follow hypes: one day, oh let's use k8s k8s k8s for everything, next day, oh blockchain blockchain blochchain, and now oh AI AI AI ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
